A simple and effective way to enjoy the ski season in Quebec in a converted van.
The alpine ski season is underway in several regions of Quebec, and it’s the perfect time to explore them with your family. Renting a VanLife Campers vehicle is an ideal way to travel across the province with complete autonomy. Chef and outdoor enthusiast Louis-François Marcotte tried the experience for you.

Winter camping with two kids is the ultimate adventure.
The key to success? Planning ahead so you can stay fully autonomous at the ski resort.
For Louis-François’s family, Mont Grand-Fonds was the chosen destination for a week-long winter getaway. Planning isn’t just about the destination and the length of your trip—it also includes everything that will make your stay easy and enjoyable for the whole family.
Louis-François points out that you should plan the same way you would for summer tent camping. Managing your gear in relation to the available space is one of the most important factors to consider before leaving. In their case, the front cabin was used to hang and dry clothes, thanks to the van’s highly efficient heating system. It’s also recommended to bring a boot dryer and hangers to properly organize your drying area.

VanLife Campers recreational vehicles are designed for comfort and efficiency. The interior layout is optimized to maximize space and make travelers feel right at home. Each van is fully equipped: a complete kitchen, electricity, water, a cassette toilet, and everything you need for cooking and cleaning. You can also choose between one or two double beds.
All vans come with basic bedding such as sheets and pillows. For optimal comfort, you can even request additional warm bedding. If you like things extra cozy, the chef recommends bringing your own pillows and blankets. You’ll never sleep better—and that’s essential after a full day on the slopes.

Without a doubt Louis-François’s favorite part! Planning meals and snacks ahead of time makes vacations so much easier. Since VanLife Campers vehicles are equipped with a 12V refrigerator with a small freezer, it’s easy to bring and store food.
Plan meals that you’ve pre-cooked, frozen, and vacuum-sealed to optimize space—chili, beef bourguignon, sausages for gourmet hot dogs—basically anything you love cooking at home. All that’s left to do is reheat. There’s nothing better than a warm, comforting lunch to recharge the kids and squeeze in a few more runs on the slopes!

Heading out on a family adventure with VanLife Campers is truly memorable. Playing outside together, skiing as a family, and enjoying cozy evenings after a day in the great outdoors are all moments to cherish. While the space is smaller compared to home, the closeness can sometimes be a challenge—but it’s also a privilege.
If you love adventure, the outdoors, rosy cheeks after a great day of skiing, and warm family evenings, a ski vacation in a VanLife Campers van is an experience worth having. So, where will you go next?
